Local Economic Development with a Global Reach

We perceive powerful synergy between local economic development and global opportunities provided by the Internet. Local Economic Development with a Global Reach involves six areas of economic development:

1. Internet - Import: Which Internet-based opportunities provide the most relevant, sustainable, high-integrity opportunities? We are currently researching several income opportunities which will be added to the THCI list only after they pass muster..
2. Export: Which products, talents, and services in the community are potential export businesses? For example, In the Tatamagouche area of Nova Scotia there is a farm that has a herd of organically raised deer. What would the value of their meat be to a specialty restaurant in New York or Los Angeles; what are the government regulations; how can it be safely delivered?
3. Trades: Revitalize the trades. In the wake of the demise of the industrial revolution trade skills will take on greater and greater importance. The technology of the information age does not grow potatoes. We are in a period where we need to combine the most advanced technology with the most traditional skills.
